IRONSTONE AT FORK IT FARM

SLOW DOWN. BREATHE. STAY AWHILE.

Escape to Ironstone at Fork it Farm, a private one-bedroom country cottage for two, tucked amongst the gardens of our 44-hectare working farm in Tasmania’s Pipers Brook Wine Region.

Perched on a hillside overlooking the farm, bushland and neighbouring vineyard, Ironstone is somewhere to slow down, breathe in the country air and enjoy the simple pleasure of having nowhere you need to be.

Wander through the gardens, pick a few herbs, find a sunny spot with a cup of tea, watch the changing light across the paddocks or curl up beside the wood fire when Tasmania turns on some weather.

And when you feel like exploring, some of north-east Tasmania’s wonderful cellar doors, farmgates, producers and landscapes are right on your doorstep.
Stay in. Head out. Do a little. Do nothing. It’s entirely up to you.

Living area at Fork it FARM, premium farm stay in Northern Tasmania
Your little corner of the farm.

Built in 2021, Ironstone Cottage takes its cues from the simple character of a 19th-century Tasmanian cottage, combining old-world charm with the comfort and efficiency of a modern home.

Designed as a retreat for two, it’s deliberately small, quiet and uncomplicated. Reclaimed and refurbished furniture, materials and collected pieces give the cottage a sense of character that feels as though it has been here much longer than it has.
Ironstone is completely off-grid, powered by solar and battery, with rainwater collected here on the property.

Outside, the gardens wrap around the cottage while the hillside opens to views across the farm, bushland and neighbouring vineyard.

A little space, a little quiet and nowhere you need to be.

A LITTLE TASTE OF THE FARM

From our garden to your table.

We’ve provided a few local breakfast provisions to ease you into the morning, including our own naturally cured and smoked bacon and fresh eggs.

Step outside and the garden becomes part of the pantry. Wander amongst the roses and garden beds, and pick a little fresh herbs and seasonal produce to enjoy during your stay. What’s growing changes with Tasmania’s seasons — and we think that’s part of the charm.

Fancy something more? A changing selection of Fork it Farm meals, meats and pickles, along with Tasmanian wines, is available to purchase during your stay.

Pick a little. Taste the season. You’re on Ironstone time.

Want to discover a little more about life at Fork it Farm?

Guests staying at Ironstone can book an exclusive Behind the Scenes Farm Tour, joining us for a producer-led look at our working regenerative farm.

We’ll share how and why we farm the way we do, introduce you to our heritage Berkshire pigs and give you an insight into the journey from paddock to plate — including what happens inside our purpose-built Meatshed.

It’s not a petting-farm experience, but an opportunity to see a working farm from the inside, ask questions and better understand where your food comes from.

Tours are available exclusively to staying guests, by prior booking and subject to availability.

THE region

Ironstone sits in the heart of the Pipers Brook Wine Region, one of Tasmania’s great cool-climate wine areas
and particularly renowned for its sparkling wines.

Cellar doors range from established sparkling houses to small family-run vineyards, with Pinot Noir,
Chardonnay and Riesling also at home in the region.

Venture a little further and you’ll find farmgates, local producers, bushwalks, beaches, golf,
mountain biking and the landscapes of north-east Tasmania.

Or don't.

Sometimes the best way to explore Tasmania is to stop exploring it for a while.

Light the fire. Open a bottle of local wine. Raid the games cupboard.
Wander through the garden. Watch for wildlife. Sit beneath the night sky.

No itinerary. No sightseeing. No need to be anywhere else.
